How to read it
Seasonality is the idea that some months are reliably better than others. The table lets you check it against what actually happened, year by year.
Treat any pattern with care. 19 years is 19 examples of each month: one or two unusual years (2008, 2020) can move an average a long way.
A month's average also hides its spread. A month that is up on average can still have fallen in a third of the years.
Questions people ask
What is the best month for Nifty historically?
The table shows every month's return in every year, so you can count for yourself. Schema's Seasonality page ranks the months and, more usefully, shows how often each one rose.
Does Nifty seasonality work?
Some months have been stronger on average, but with under twenty examples of each the evidence is thin, and the averages lean on a few extreme years. It is context, not a strategy.
How is a monthly return calculated?
The last close of the month divided by the last close of the month before, minus one. Dividends are not included.
